MMDocumentTypes.xml caused problems |
| message from red78 on 23 Jul 2004 |
I knew that the one day I wanted to change a preference that it would cause
other problems. I prefer to use .html as my extension. As you probably know
DWMX uses .htm as the default extension.
So I followed the instructions I have from a DW book to edit
MMDocumentTypes.xml file. Below is the original line and then what I changed it
to after that.
BEFORE
winfileextension="htm,html,shtml.shtm,stm,lasso,xhtml"
AFTER
winfileextension="html,htm,shtml,shtm,stm,lasso,xhtml"
If there is a mistake in my typing it was just here. All I did was switch html
to html and vice versa.
The problem is that now when I click on DWMX logo to start the program it
stops and says:
No Document Types have been. The application will exit now.
I get this error msg every time; even after I went back to the xml file and
changed back to the original configuration.
Is reinstalling the only way to go?

It sounds like you have an xml syntax error in the MMDocumentTypes.xml
file, or it got moved to the wrong folder.
Take a closer look.

Randy

I think that error message can also happen if they've edited in the
configuration folder that's in Programs, instead of the one for Them as a
User when it's a multi-user os.

You were right there was something wrong in the xml file. It was on the first line, there was a tabbed indent before the xml version statement that shouldn't have been there.
Thanks
