Limit on table or page size? Why DW4 crashing?

message from lizapoi on 21 Jul 2004
Hi all, I am trying to use the "insert tabular data" function, which I do ALL
the time with success in Dreamweaver 4. But my large data set now seems to be
crashing the program & I can't do what I'm trying to do. It's a huge table --
14 columns by 701 rows -- has it just gotten too darn big for the page to
handle? Can't think of a workaround! I have tried breaking the table in two
and importing the data in 2 sets -- still it crashes. Have tried importing one
set, then copying from a dummy page and pasting the second set below the first

Windows 2000 -- gobs of memory. I just removed one column from the table (not
a long-term solution, I still need the data!) and it worked OK. I feel like I
must be pushing some unwritten limit on capacity? Thanks --

36K is well within the capacity of DMX. I suspect that there is something
in the file - is that possible?

Do you have another similarly sized Word document that you could try
importing as a test?

How big (in bytes) is the Word file?

What is your operating system. What kind of crash is it? How much memory
do you have?

In addition to memory, do you have enough mhz horsepower? My system is
borderline and I am fortunate that DW2004 even installed.

The biggest performance improvement came after a scandisk and defrag. To keep
things going, I have no other programs running with DW2004, save often, and do
frequent program exits and reboots. Try all the above.
