Looks wrong on DW, but right in IE...how?

message from A.H.O. on 19 Jul 2004
Hello again everyone,

My content table extends past where it is supposed to (100% width). Ive got
my page tables all set at 100% width, and one of them extends way out past the
others. Im assuming because of of the content Ive added wont let it shrink to
fit the window. The wierd part is that even though it looks screwed up in DW,
it looks great in a browser. Ive seen it the other way around (A LOT it seems)
but never this way. Is there a logical reason for this?

Thanks

A,
a myriad of possibilities
image percentages that can't be represented
wrapping and <br> that may not be represented
wrong editing table mode
recordSet names being shown on the page
etc, etc

Try other browser flavours, too, just to make sure!

It would be easier to give an informtaive reply if you would provide a link
to the page, or place the code in your message.

woops, forget the anglers catalog page. I know why that one is "off kilter".
Thanks

Apart from any ethical issues (hunting indeed *!*#) ... with IE6, WXP, I
don't see any unwanted breaks in any tables!
However, you may wish to consider adding some margins/indentation to your
text, or perhaps cell padding. Some of the text is so close to the borders
it can be a tad hard to read

Id love to debate theology/ethics with you, but another time. =-) Right now Im
wondering about margins..I tried cell padding but it seems to affect
everything. All of the cells instead of just the ones I want. is there a way
to indent or margin text in just the areas I need to do it?

Try inseting a table (1 column x 1 row) inside the existing table. Then format the 1 x 1 table with cell padding. It is very handy to know about using tables within tables.
