Images and Styling not working when previewing pa |
| message from miker1961 on 25 Jul 2004 |
When I go to preview my coded pages in IE 6.0 the page renders without images
and without utilizing the style sheet I have set up for it. I always set the
paths of images and links site root relative.
Here is a sample of how I am referencing an image and the style sheet from my
index page. The image and the style sheet are both located at the same level as
the index page.
/image.gif and /stylesheet.css
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Try taking the leading slash ( / ) off them, that's telling it to look one
directory up. If they're in the same directory as the index.htm page, they
should be: image.gif and stylesheet.css. You want them document relative.

***BOO!***
(The leading slash doesn't tell it to go up one directory. It refers
explicitly to the root of the site.)

are you having problems with the "Preview in Browser" page?
Do the images show when you use F12?
Or- are you trying to directly load the page from your hard drive??
If the later- site root relative paths only work on a Server, where the Site
Root is what you've told dreamweaver it is.
