Help with template

I'm editing a site which I made/edit with Dreamweaver, based on a template.

I'd like to add a left column, simply mirroring the one on the right. Problem
is I'm so lousy at HTML I don't understand how my template is built - and when
I've tried out some possible solutions it turns into the template from hell. If
anyone is interested in helping out I would be very grateful.
