Dreams to Nightmare!!!

message from Snerp on 22 Jul 2004
I'm creating a site (
http://www.thinkmarketing.net/boyd/boyd_website/home.html ) using
DreamweaverMX, FlashMX and FireworksMX. I've created dropdown menus in
Fireworks and a roll over Map in Flash. I've then placed the work in tables
using Dreamweaver. The problem I'm having is that the drop downs don't work in
some browsers, the menus appear behind the Flash map or they just don't work at
all.

The Flash map has roll over buttons that once clicked they bring up a centerd
pop-up window, again in some browsers these buttons work in others they don't.

I've tested Netscape 7.1 (which works the best), Explorer 5.2.3 and Safari
1.2.2
Also I've looked at the page on both PC and Mac. The PC's are very sketchy and
their was no consistancey, the Macs faired better, but where also different on
how the page worked.

I would like any suggestions on what I can try to get this page to work
seamless in at least Explorer and Netscape.

Thanks

Don't position flash files so that drop down menus overlap them. There's no
consistent way to ensure that flash is in the background of the page.

Yes I agree that the Fireworks drop downs are very sketchy, but I'm not going
to pay $120.00 for JavaScript menus from another company either, there has to
be another reasonable solution. I'm going to scrap the drop downs for now and
move on. Thanks for the suggestions.
