Dreamweaver freezes when editing CFM |

For some reason, Dreamweaver freezes as soon as I attempt to edit a CFM file.
It will open normally, but as soon as I highlight text for editing the CPU
utilization by DW shoots up to 100% and does not respond.
There have been times when I've waited for it to finish whatever it was doing
in the background, and the text was highlighted. However, when I tried to make
my edits it freezes again.
This happens with ANYTHING I try to edit in a CFM file...text AND source code.
Can someone PLEASE help???
