DW MX2004 crash problems question |
| message from DaveBlues on 21 Jul 2004 |
Both my assistant and I have our own installation CDs of Studio MX 2004 and we
upgraded to 7.01.
If we work on new or small websites ... no problem.
But, as soon as we try to work on our main, huge website (1,800 php/html files
- 17,000 total files) DW MX 2004 crashes like a Florida driver.
However, when we open it in our old DWMX version ... no problem.
We've tried this on 5 different PCs and in Win2k and WinXP. Also tried wit and
without the cache turned on.
I've opened a support ticket, but just realized there may be one issue people
here can answer.
Could it be because we have the old "connection scripts", "LCK" files and
configurations actually peppered throughout our website?
Can anyone think of a reason why this would indeed cause DW MX 2004 to crash?
Finding all instances of LCKs and connection scripts can be a long tedious job.
I started building this site 2 1/2 years ago with DW 4.0, switched to DWMX,
and now trying DWMX 2004.
Thanks,
Dave

I can't think of any reason why the things you mention would cause a
crash....<<
Nope. And we hand code our own PHP and mysql.
The thing that makes me think it might be this is because it works fine in
DWMX.
I can see if my CD was defective, but both CD?s I doubt it. Unless I'm the guy
that just discovered a major flaw in the new DWMX 2004 (which is actually
possible, albiet unlikely).
One would think DW 2004 would handle whatever MX could.
So my assumption is that it must be related to the checkin/out, connection
scripts.
Because that is the only thing that may be configuered differently between the
two version.
