[DW4] Adding Behaviors to Text |
| message from Damaeus on 25 Jul 2004 |
Oftentimes when I try to add an "Open Browser Window" behavior to a single
word in a paragraph, once I get through setting the options for the new
window, I click OK and the entire paragraph suddenly highlights. The
behavior has then been set to the whole paragraph and not just the single
word or phrase I wanted to link from. This is extremely annoying. Does
anybody have this problem with Dreamweaver 4, and is there something I'm
missing?
Thanks,
Damaeus

Okay, I think I found a workaround. I first selected the text I wanted to
link from and I set the CSS style to make it look like a hyperlink. I then
kept that same text selected and then set my "open browser window"
behavior. But now I seem to have forgotten how to have the mouse cursor
turn into a "hand" when it hovers over that portion of the text. :-\

Dan's way is the correct way of doing it,

Actually, my reply was the short version. If user doesn't have js turned
on, there are ways to make the link work anyway. But I thought that was
TMI and overkill.
BTW: The OT is posting from the webforum and which is updating to bring
in the posts from the NNTP server very slowly. He never saw my reply.

Select the text.
In the property inspector's link window, type: javascript:;
You have now created a null-link and will be able to attach the behavior
to that.
