DWMX & CONTRIBUTE FTP Error

message from idiscmedia on 23 Jul 2004
I am using DWMX on the mac. I have a contributable site that was having error
messages for the user when editing text. I connected to the server and decided
to delete the html file and re upload it. When I FTP'd into the site and
attempted to delete the file it wouldn't let me. Then I attempted to re-upload
the file. It wrote the file but added an unusual extension (.new) to it
myfilename.html. So when it wrote the file it changed it to myfilename.html.new

I then tried to delete that file and coudn't. I checked with my webhost and
he could write and delete files no problem from his end. We unlocked all the
files and tried again, but same problem. I don't know why it is writing the
file with a new extension on it.

When I attempted to delete the files (both the old one on the server and the
new one with the .new extension, I got an FTP error saying it couldn't find
the file or directory on the server to delete it. with a 550/: in the error
message.

I also need to know if I delete the contribute.xml file and start over will I
lose any of the ROLLBACK f iles?

Any help you can offer in clearing this up is appreciated.

Keith
