Can't create a recordset |
| message from Marc99508 on 24 Jul 2004 |
I am new to Dreamweaver and am working through the sample Trio Motors exercise
that comes with Dreamweaver. I have created my site with remote and testing
folders (same as remote folder which is default setting) but the test server
set up won't happen so I can not proceed to create a record set.
I have made the database connection but when I go to bindings to create a
record set there is not a check by "3. (set up the site's testing server).
Note that there is a check by # 1 (create a site for this file) and #2 (choose
a document type). As a result I can not get the + lit up to create the
recordset to proceed.. I checked the test site configuration and it is the
default choice and correct. I tried it at work and I don't have a problem
doing this.
Why is this happening here. I created a whole new set up from scratch with
the same result.
I reinstalled the software with no improvement. Can any one help?

I have solved the problem. This may help others. The answer is... I
unistalled my Zone Alarm Firewall and viola, the problem went away. The
testing server now gets set up and the URL check in the manage sites window
also now works. I could probably find a way to let the firewall talk to
Dreamwever, but I'll take that on another day..

The 'testing server' needs to be your 'local' PC and needs to have the server
side software installed, i.e. IIS.
So the default settings need to be changed, normaly your 'test' site resides
at C:\Inetpub\wwwroot on your local PC.

Note of clarification to what I wrote above. I am using Windows XP Professional and the Access database with VB ASP choice.
