Background Image

message from IsThisNameTaken on 17 Jul 2004
I'm not sure if it is my browser, and I'm pretty new to HTML. My background
image doesnt seem to be showing up in my header. The site is <a
href="http://www.find-your-realtor.com" Find a Realtor</a>. It is in the right
cell of the header. I am using netscape and it doesnt seem to be coming
through. Does netscape allow for background images?

Do you mean the three-banded blue background with the text
"Find-your-realtor.com" in the lower right hand corner? That's the only
background image I see on the page and I do see it using IE 6.0 and
WinXP-Pro.

This is the only background image on the page that I could see -

<td width="601" height="105" valign="bottom"
background="images/header-back.gif"

and I see it fine in IE6/WXPPro. It's possible that the original poster
isn't seeing it because it's being blocked, I guess....

I believe that Netscape does not support background images in cells. If you want an image to be visible in Netscape, don't apply it as a background - just put it in the cell.

That's incorrect.

Netscape will support background images in cells just fine.

I wouldn't rely too heavily on the browser checker in DW., you can always
do a validation check at www.w3.org if needed.

DW's browser checker is riddled with errors. You've found one of them.
