Any way to show remotely-hosted images? |
| message from tsmith35 on 19 Jul 2004 |
I use DWMX2k4 and have been happy with it for normal site editing, but it's
missing something that FrontPage has had for years: the ability to show a
remotely-hosted image. Or am I wrong about this?
For example, let's say I'm editing a page setup for Ebay <G>. They don't host
the images there, so I put the images up on my hosted site. Of course, I have
to use absolute paths to refer to the images, but there's a problem: nothing
shows up in DW but a broken link image. Previewing in IE shows the images, and
when I publish the page (with copy'n'paste), it shows up fine on Ebay. But it's
quite a pain not being able to see the images while editing the page.
Same situation as I've faced editing sister sites (each sharing files from the
other). Broken images in DW, but show up fine in preview or when published.
I still keep FP just for such work, but I'd rather find a way to see the
images in DW and get rid of FP entirely. DW is such a nice program to be
missing this capability.
Any ideas? Possible feature for future DW versions?
Thanks.

DW will not show any image that's not in the local site.
You can let the development team know that you want this by using this
